About Us

DEC Industries Ltd. fabricates custom-built machinery and production lines for a variety of industries including mining, steel works, aluminum smelters, pulp & paper mills, hydroelectric dams, and wind turbines amongst others.

Founded in 1975 in Montreal by Dave Chaudry, operations began with a modest 3,000 square foot facility. DEC expanded its reach with global clients and wider industry expertise over the years – propelling the firm into new production facilities in 1986. With a full complement of highly skilled professionals and experienced trade mechanics, DEC operates today from its 60,000 square foot state-of-the-art production facilities.

Clients

The company’s main clients include the world’s largest engineering firms. Over the years, the company has served leading multinationals such as Alcan, ArcelorMittal, Dofasco, Essar, GE Canada, Italimpianti of America, NKK, Nippon Steel, Sidbec-Dosco, SMS Group, Steel Dynamic, Stelco, Tata Steel , ThyssenKrupp and US Steel to name a few.

With clients in US, Canada, Germany, Italy, Brazil, India, Mexico, Indonesia, amongst other countries, DEC has worked on a large number of export projects and has extensive expertise in international activities built up over several decades.

Employees

Operating in a non-unionized shop, DEC can proudly attest that the firm has never had a work stoppage in its 35+ years of business. DEC employees support the operations from concept design to delivery and after-sales support. The staff receives regular ongoing skills training and operates in a safe and secure environment where their skills and opinions are valued by the company and clients alike. The Plant Manager and Quality Controller lead a full production team that includes a spectrum of machinists, welders, fitters, shippers and delivery personnel. All of the managers and the majority of the technicians hold degrees from recognized engineering schools and universities. The office team includes sales, support, purchasing, and administrative support professionals. Most of the employees have been with DEC for over 15 years and display initiative and dedication in their dealings with DEC clients.

Certifications

To establish quality standards and the leadership to maintain them, the company has been certified ISO 9002 for more than 10 years. It has all the technical certifications the industry requires (CSA W59, ASME, CWB and AWS).
